Victor Davis Hanson on World War II and the War on Terror on National Review Online
Victor Davis Hanson on World War II and the War on Terror on National Review Online: "The last two weeks I have been following the route of the American Army's drive from Normandy into Germany in 1944-5. It is quite something to visit Aachen, Mainz, the Hrtzen forest, Bastogne, Omaha Beach, and Pointe du Hoc, and then juxtapose such visits with the daily pabulum in the International Herald Tribune, CNN, and the European dailies. And after two weeks, I think most would prefer the wisdom of the noble dead to the ignorance of the shameful living."

Soft on Islam
Last Sunday a Methodist minister in Coquitlam BC urged his parishioners to go out and set fire to all the area’s mosques. On the same weekend, a Catholic clergyman in Yonkers, N.Y. rigged a couple of his altar boys with dynamite-laden vests and sent them out to blow up the headquarters of the Muslim-American Association of New York. A month previous, a Baptist minister in Atlanta, Georgia called for the eradication of all Muslims and told his church that if they died while engaged in the act of killing Muslim "Infidels", they would be guaranteed a spot in Heaven, at the right hand of Jesus. A Rabbi in Stockholm, Sweden urged his Schul to form up gangs and "smite Muslims, wherever they may find them".

Sound absurd? Of course it does, as no Christian or Jewish cleric today would dream of doing anything of the sort. However, that isn’t the case with the world’s fastest growing religion. Almost daily, Islamic clerics are calling for, among other things, the destruction of Israel, the destruction of the Great Satan, America, the killing of infidel tourists around the world and the death of all Jews.

Ashcroft: Berger doc exposes security lapse
"'I certainly cannot say why the blueprint for security was not followed in 2000,' he said. 'I do know from my personal experience that those who take the kind of tough measures called for in the plan will feel the heat. I've been there; I've done that. So the sense of urgency simply may not have overcome concern about the outcry and criticism which follows such tough tactics.'"

Canada, upon which Cuba’s tax system is based, maintains a much softer stance on the Castro regime. Not only was Cuba’s tax system built with the direct advice of Revenue Canada, Canada has been doing business with the island since 1959. Canadians, with an estimated 500,000 visits this year, make up the largest single tourist group to Cuba.

Quadrant Magazine: "Large-scale organised protests against visiting US leaders were nothing new; but something about these demonstrations was. The tone was new: not merely strident, but shrill, vindictive, intemperate; but most noticeably, the real target was new. The object of the massed demonstrators' fury was not America's foreign policies, nor its alliance with Australia, nor, it seemed, even the recent war. The target was the United States itself. It was not what the USA did that was the problem; it was what the USA was."

U.N. Staffer Gets 'Substantial' Payoff
One woman, whose name was not released, filed a complaint against Maria Ljungrenn, Nair's executive officer. Ljungrenn was offered what one source described as a "substantial" payoff to leave rather than face disciplinary action and Ljungrenn took the offer, sources said.

What happened and why it happened to Ljungrenn becomes more significant because of the sexual and financial misconduct charges that Nair is facing. Nair runs the U.N. Office of Internal Oversight Services.

Ljungrenn, in her position as Nair's executive officer, would have had direct knowledge of Nair's personnel decisions.

Joint Declaration of the International Catholic-Jewish Liaison Committee
The 18th International Catholic-Jewish Liaison Committee Meeting was held in Buenos Aires, from July 5-8, 2004. This encounter, convened for the first time in Latin America, has been devoted to the subject of "Tzedeq" and "Tzedaqah" (Justice and Charity), in their theoretical aspects and practical applications. Our deliberations have been inspired by God's command to "love one's neighbor as oneself" (Leviticus 19:18; Matthew 22:39). Drawing from our different perspectives, we have renewed our joint commitment to defend and promote human dignity, as deriving from the biblical affirmation that every human being is created in the likeness and image of God (Genesis 1:26). We recall Pope John XXIII's advocacy of human rights for all God's children enunciated in his seminal encyclical "Pacem in Terris" (1963) and we pay special tribute to him for initiating the fundamental change in the Catholic-Jewish relationship.

Arab League urges UN against hasty sanctions on Sudan
CAIRO, July 11 (AFP) -- The Arab League on Sunday urged the United Nations against slapping hasty sanctions on Sudan and pressed the world body to work with Khartoum to resolve the conflict in the western Darfur region.

The league called on the Security Council to "give all possible support in implementing the agreement between the Sudanese government and the UN," in a statement.

What is Sudan going to do to get these people back hoe and prevent the sort of ignorance going on over there? What do you recommend fellow princes? You might want to come up with some before I get to it.

The league also pressed the United Nations "not be hasty in passing a resolution that would have the opposite affect of this agreement and the current efforts of the African Union (AU)" to ease the conflict in Darfur.

so...let me get thsi straight...You want to let Sudan figure this mess out...

Here's the deal Sudan...We are going to be sending in the Blue helmets, or perhaps even ourselves once this election is over...unless you want a real patriotic war right before the elcetion, if one of you fools wants to kick something off, we can oblige...

you do know we can take action at any moment, don't you?

I know you're not fool enough to believe that we are really that short on troops now...

:-)

There was and is a time when people forget, people stop talking about...but we know when there is a hush...an "its supposed to be secret" as in...don't tell the media...

BWUAHAHAHAAAHAAAAAAA.........

I remember those days...You didn't think in your little world that there were people so close...so near by that wanted the destruction of the United States...that these whackos weren't somehow deviant.

Strange fellows...

...strange fellows indeed...

ahhh the brainwashed...so inculcated to be free...so happy are we...I'm sorry dear Flag, what did you just say? (heavy sarcasm)

...but I digress...

oh, back to the "world tensions"

Genocide, ethnic cleansing are right out...either europe will stand up for principle, or it won't...France continues to be exposed for the charlatan she is...We will come, we will wreak some more destruction...life will go on (well, except for a few of your peers)...

....blah blah blah....

happy days are here again...

except here in the United States, they've never really left...

:-)

edit...

so...I read more...

"The AU has said it plans to send a 300-strong armed protection force to Darfur, where it has already deployed observers to monitor a shaky ceasefire."

300 people, eh?

generous...at least the Sudanese have no fear of your "occupation force"

oh, that's right, they're not afraid of shit from you.

U.S. Removes Iraqi Nuclear and Radiological Materials;
"This operation was a major achievement for the Bush Administration's goal to keep potentially dangerous nuclear materials out of the hands of terrorists," Secretary Abraham said. "It also puts this material out of reach for countries that may seek to develop their own nuclear weapons."

Twenty experts from DOE's national laboratory complex packaged 1.77 metric tons of low-enriched uranium and roughly 1000 highly radioactive sources from the former Iraq nuclear research facility. The DOD airlifted the material to the United States on June 23 and provided security, coordination, planning, ground transportation, and funding for the mission.
